Beautiful Feet...

"And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!" (Ro 10:15)

When you think of the most attractive parts of the human body, which ones come to mind first? I would venture to say that your initial response would not be the same as God's. Yep, he would say, "your feet."

Is there anything in this life that does not tarnish with age? Certainly, in my case, the testimony of the pastor who 37 years ago looked beyond my physical appearance and invited me to know Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, shines just as brightly today as it did then. For me, his feet were worth more than the whole world. They brought me the only message of salvation and meaning for life that exists in the entire created universe.

What do you feel in your heart for the person that had an instrumental part in your own personal encounter with the Savior? Gratitude? Love? Respect? Surely all of that and more, right?

So now, how many people are there in your life that, when they see you, they are filled with all of the same feelings, because you were that person whose feet brought them the message of salvation?

I would guess that we are all anxious to hear those words of our Master when we pass from this life into eternity: "Well done, good and faithful servant." (Mt 25:21)

But, we don't have to wait that long to hear words that will lift our spirits. Maybe today we should shoot for having people in our lives that, when they see us, they light up with joy, because we had a hand in their coming to the Lord.

There is little in this life that refreshes the believer's bones as much as hearing his name come up in someone else's testimony. No, there is no pride in that; just an overwhelming confirmation of what the grace of God is all about:
  • how he uses us in spite of our glaring imperfections;
  • how he fills us with joy upon seeing his work in someone else;
  • how he motivates us to seek to repeat the experience in yet another.
We should take good care of our feet.
